H&A Mechanical Services is proud to have completed the installation of hybrid heating systems as part of an innovative low carbon pilot programme delivered in partnership with Phoenix Energy and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE).
The initiative forms part of the Housing Executive’s wider Low Carbon Programme and has seen 15 homes across Belfast upgraded with a range of energy efficiency improvements designed to reduce carbon emissions, improve comfort and help shape the future of sustainable home heating in Northern Ireland.
Taking a ‘fabric first’ approach, participating properties received upgrades including cavity wall and loft insulation, as well as new windows and doors to improve the overall thermal performance of each home. Alongside these improvements, H&A Mechanical Services installed hybrid heating systems that combine an air source heat pump with a high-efficiency gas boiler, providing an effective, flexible solution that balances low carbon technology with reliable home heating.
The programme will now enter a two-year monitoring phase, during which Phoenix Energy will assess the performance of the systems across participating homes. The monitoring will evaluate carbon savings, energy efficiency, running costs and customer experience, generating valuable data to help inform future low carbon heating policy and the wider transition to net zero.
As a trusted mechanical services contractor, H&A Mechanical Services was responsible for delivering the installation of the hybrid systems to the highest standards, ensuring minimal disruption for residents while supporting the successful delivery of this pioneering project.
